Story

Transit of Venus is a menagerie of artful objects and curios, created and curated by designer Devon Matlock. She believes that every object has a story to tell, and hopes that over time and with use, her pieces will come to take on and tell your stories as well.

Based in California, ToV prioritizes craftsmanship, sustainability, and fair labor above all else. Some of these efforts often include but are not limited to: sourcing eco-friendly fabrics and processes, local production when possible, using recycled materials, and fair labor practices.

Devon created Transit of Venus as a passion project to combine her love for illustration and unique wearables after finding she could no longer continue to work as a bench jeweler due to injury and ensuing disability. Beyond her passion for drawing and fashion, she has years of specialized training in the jewelry industry as a bench jeweler and designer, working closely with clients to create custom heirlooms.  Devon finds inspiration for her designs in history, ancient art, the victorian era, memento mori, reliquaries, and the occult. Her art explores the ways in which we invest power, memory, and personal mythologies into objects. To see her full portfolio, please visit www.devonmatlock.com
